My worry about boarding them at Tunica Pet Resort the first time was soon alleviated shortly after our arrival.
I was going to leave my dog here for two hours. We had to check out of our hotel and we were wanting to eat lunch before our four hour drive home. I had a bad feeling leaving my dog here, but I figured I was just nervous because I have never left him at a place like this before. The date he stayed was Sunday June 14, 2015. Upon arriving a man, David, came out of the building. Following him was ten small dogs that were all running around the small fenced area in front of the building, you can see it in the pictures. I was not sure that my dog had all of the vaccinations required, so I showed david the invoice of records and he said it would be fine. I was expecting to walk with my dog into the building, but he wanted me to hand him over the fence, (red flag #1). He wanted me to keep the leash, so I put it back in the car. Then I asked him if I needed to sign any paperwork or anything and he said no. (red flag #2) He did not even ask for an emergency contact number, it was on my dogs collar, but I still thought it was weird he didnt ask. (red flag #3) AGAINST MY GUT FEELING I LEFT MY LITTLE JACK CHI AT THIS PLACE. I couldnt concentrate on eating and went to pick up my dog 45 minutes after I dropped him off. When I pulled up he was barking at the door. David opened the door and my dog came out into the small fenced area so I could leash him and take him to the car. I payed David and left. When we got home my dog ( I am not saying names because I do not want to be contaced by this facility EVER again!) was very tired, I thought it was just from the trip. We have been home a week now and he is acting very strange. He is usually outgoing and hyper. Lately he has had his tail in between his legs and hiding under all of the tables in the house. He squeels when I touch his mouth and he hasnt played with any of his toys (this is VERY abnormal for him). He wont even eat his bacon treats. He looks healthy, but I am still going to take him to the vet. I thought it was just fatigue from traveling, but he is all skittish now. I think he was abused or mistreated at this facility. I would NOT and I repeat NOT leave your dog here!! If you really care about them, dont even chance it! I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not take your poor pet here. Just think if something happens, how are they going to tell you? Please do not leave them here..
I was apprehensive the first time because my 2 dogs were rescues that had been severely abused.
cages.
These are some of the many reasons I have continued to use Tunica Pet Resort over the past 7 years and plan to continue using Tunica Pet Resort in the future.
I know my dogs are safe and happy when they stay with David and that means a lot to me.
The dogs are allowed to roam free as a pack inside. It is a joy to see them react to one another and with David.
You do not find this type of camaraderie in kennels where animals are just put into
David has strict requirements regarding documentation that vaccinations and required shots for boarding are up-to-date. This is reassuring to me, as an owner.
One suffered from extreme separation anxiety. (A veterinarian called me to come pick her up immediately following surgery because he said she was "having a psychotic breakdown and was uncontrollable".)
Planned a trip to Tunica for one night, just got a puppy and didn't want him to stay home alone. This pet resort was convenient for our situation. However there was about 15 dogs running a muck, the whole place smelt like urine, there was doggy poop on the tile floor. Our poor little puppy has urine on him, how we will never know nor whose it is. We will not recomend or go back here.
My dogs have enjoyed staying with David each time and they show no fear or anxiety. David learns the animals names and knows their habits.
David has a soothing way with animals, and they trust him. My dogs remained calm, settled right down, and began playing with the other dogs.
I have used Tunica Pet Resort since 2007, when it first opened.
